A look at the UK rail scene as we move into the third decade of 2000s. The scene has changed beyond recognition since the start of the century, and 2020 will bring even more change with the introduction of more new trains and the withdrawl of much of the older rolling stock. Its hard to imagine the East Coast mainline without the famed Inter City 125s, and with the Class 91s slowly being phased out many of the images in this gallery will soon be confined to history. The Class 68s however offer something a bit different to the modern unit and can be found on Trans Pennine routes between Liverpool and Scarborough, freight is still plentiful and varied even though traction tends to be Class 66s, there are still some ‘heritage’ locos out there……and with GBRf due to bring the Class 69s out during this year, still plenty of interest for photographers.
